Our last day here, but we don't fly out until 4pm, so we have the entire morning to run around. (or walk, that is). We ran around in the rain all morning. We went to the Zoo in Amsterdam, called the Artis Zoo, but we did not stay because it decided to start pouring then. We just walked the city again, and rode the tram until our tickets expired. We checked out of the hotel and took a taxi to the Schipol Airport. We had lunch at a McDonald's in the airport (see picture of trash can), and when I order a kids meal, they all laughed at me. It was funny that I surprised them by doing that. The airport has a miniature Rijks Museum in it and a museum gift shop, along with tons of other shops. All the shops reminded me of the Detroit Airport, but not quite as new. We had a direct flight from Amsterdam to Detroit (and in Detroit we ran into a friend from our church there!) The flight home was quite a treat because we flew First Class (Business Class). We used frequent flier miles to upgrade me so Todd and I could sit together. The joke is, if we didn't upgrade my ticket, who would have ended up where? ho. The seats fully recline and their was beverage service and hot towels before we even took off. Once we were in the air our meal started out with shrimp cocktail...It was fun having a window seat and peering out and seeing all the places we flew over before it was all ocean. I'm thankful that I haven't traveled enough for that not to amaze me, still. I think I get the desire to fly from my Dad. Maybe I could have been a pilot! So - it was a great trip - too short, and now I that I've gone "overseas" once, I can't wait to do it again...someday!
